Three terms to settle before driving
Tolls, fuel, and mileage affect both the route and the rental record. Confirm each one against the actual quote.
Tolls
Ask how cashless tolls are captured and billed, whether administrative charges apply, and whether a personal transponder is allowed.
Fuel
Record the starting level and understand the required return level. Ask how refueling is priced if the vehicle is returned short.
Mileage
Confirm unlimited mileage or the included allowance and overage rate. Mention long drives, multi-city trips, or out-of-state plans before booking.
Keep a simple return record
Photograph the fuel gauge, odometer, and vehicle condition at pickup and return when permitted. Save receipts and follow the agreed return process.
